3D Modeling

If you can design it, we can print it.

Design and production of prototypes and short runs for automotive, aerospace and other sectors.

What is AM3D modelling?

AM3D Modelling provides an engineering and 3D printing technology service for sand moulds for metal casting (aluminum, iron or steel).

The integration of all our processes allows us to shorten manufacturing and delivery times, reducing costs and offering the customer maximum security in the transfer of contracted moulds and parts.

We adapt to the needs of each customer, advising them in each part of the process.

Printing 3D sand moulds

AM3D Modelling provides a 3D printing service for sand moulds for metal casting in aluminum, iron or steel. AMC’s 3D modelling service shortens manufacturing and delivery times, and reduces product development costs. The result is a product of the highest quality that meets the demands of the customer.

AMC 3D Modelling expands our services, thus offering the design and production of prototypes and short runs for automotive, aerospace and other sectors.

AMC S.A., a company specialized in aluminum casting and precision machining, is a pioneer in Spain in the development and implementation of sand mould 3D printing technology.

The prototype design and production processes are carried out under one roof in order to offer a fast and efficient service to our customers.

The digital production of sand moulds and cores improves the traditional tool development process for prototypes and first samples, drastically reducing delivery times.

The process uses three-dimensional printing technology to produce the cores by adding sand layer by layer from a CAD file.

Standard materials are used in the foundry trade, allowing for easy interaction of moulds and cores in existing manufacturing and casting procedures.

3D Modelling Services

All of the services we offer can be requested individually..

Reverse engineering

Reverse engineering

Scanning and reconstruction of a piece for its manufacture.
The manufacture of a product can be developed from an initial mould, but in those cases where a mould does not exist the measurements of a piece can be scanned and, by applying reverse engineering, the necessary parameters to develop a mould identical to the piece provided can be obtained.

Sand moulds/cores

Manufacture of sand moulds/cores. Design and optimization of the cast, charge and risers.

The manufacture of sand moulds through our 3D printing can be done with the design provided by the customer or by using the design service of our technical department to achieve the optimization of the mould.

Batches from 1 piece. This allows manufacturing, testing, and redesigning for the second piece.
We offer a prototype development service from the first piece. This allows for testing and redesigning, applying improvements to successive redesigns of the piece. Our professionals' wide knowledge of casting processes allows us to advise the customer in the design of the prototype.

Short runs

Short runs

This allows the development of the product, as a previous step to the investment in permanent moulds for production runs.
Our short run service allows us to put forward a new development prior to investing in permanent moulds for production runs.
The material used for printed moulds is silica sand, while aluminum alloys, iron alloys and steel alloys are used for the final pieces.

Engineering1 Engineering

Our engineering department scans or designs the pieces with the latest technology, saving designs as CAD files.

Mould2 Mould

The mould is then printed in 3 dimensions by adding sand layer by layer.

Sand mould casting3 Sand mould casting

We simulate the process of the casting run for the contracted piece to meet the highest demands of our customers in terms of materials and structures. The mechanical properties can be improved by heat treatment.

Machining4 Machining

Using 5-axis simultaneous machining centres, we are able to quickly produce mechanized prototypes, from raw parts, giving shape to the final piece.

Quality control5 Quality control

For the inspection of the final piece in the sand mould, we carry out measurement by optical scanner comparing the geometry of the real piece with the 3D CAD file.

Advantages of our 3D modelling service

FLEXIBLE PRODUCTION

Production of short runs, without using tools or implements.

Each part can be different.

Quick changes can be made.

HIGH PRODUCTIVITY AND PRECISION

The prototypes are prepared for casting directly in metal.

Cores and moulds do not need post processing.

COMPLEX GEOMETRIES

No limitations on form.

There is no undercut.

Cores prepared for casting aluminum, iron and steel.

Great freedom of design.

NEED A QUOTE?

All we need is the 3D CAD file of the raw or machined part and the machining plans. We can provide you with a quote even if the final design is not yet available.

You will need to provide us with the expected quantities, the characteristics of the casting material and any requirements applicable to the production of your design.

Based on this information we can determine the necessary processes, inspection and test sequence and coordinate it with you.

Confidentiality

In AMC confidentiality is paramount. When a customer entrusts us with their development work, they can be sure that the information is subject to the agreements previously established.

Therefore, on-site inspections of production operations or even individual production stages are not allowed. On the other hand, we do provide by prior appointment with the customer a demonstration of the production stages of your particular prototype.
